2014年8月11日,罗马 - 世界各地种植各类当地特有的水果、蔬菜和粮食品种。虽然许多品种具有极高的营养价值和口味特点或适合于那些食物过敏的人,但是它们似乎已被忘记或未能得到充分利用。有些品种或许是非常适合小规模或家庭农民种植的良好经济作物。在2013年,安第斯超级谷物藜麦曾引起轰动。在从现在开始的未来12个月中,粮农组织将每月介绍一种重要的传统作物。
