We wish to invite you to join three UNFCCC COP26 events organized within the framework of the Mountain Partnership:

·         Transforming our world: Children's voices for 2050
Thursday, 4 November 2021 at 09.00-17.00 (UK time) | Online event, University of Glasgow

This day-long event hosted by the Zero Water Day Partnership will focus on empowering children and youth through education to be the main actors of change in addressing climate change, especially regarding their role in water and mountain ecosystem conservation. The final session will feature the launch of the call to action "Mountains: the water towers of our world - Children's call to action to protect mountain areas against the impacts of climate change<https://www.fao.org/fileadmin/templates/mountain_partnership/doc/Children_s_call_to_action_to_protect_mountain_areas.pdf>". ·         Sustainable mountain tourism and food systems to support recovery from COVID-19 in mountains
Friday, 5 November 2021 at 18.30-19.45 (UK time) | Official side event in Skomer (Multimedia Studio 2)
The session will bring together multi-stakeholder panelists to highlight the role of natural resource management, sustainable food systems and sustainable tourism for climate change adaptation in mountains, and propose concrete examples and recommendations on how mountain communities can recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers include representatives of the Governments of Andorra and Georgia, Fundación Agreste, Instituto de Montaña, International Centre for Environmental Education and Community Development, Mountain Partnership Secretariat and Mountain Sentinels. How to participate: Formally registered participants of the conference will be able to access this side event via the COP26 Platform<https://unfccc.int/cop26/virtual>. A link will be provided in the coming days for members of the public to watch the webcast of this event.

·         Climate change, mountains and the future of humanity
Thursday, 11 November 2021 at 13.15-14.30 (UK time) | Official side event in Glen Affric (Multimedia Studio 3)
The session will highlight the role of mountains in combating and recovering from two current global crises: COVID-19 and climate change. Panelists will propose concrete examples and share recommendations on how mountain communities and mountain environments can recover from the pandemic and adapt to our changing world. Speakers include representatives of the Governments of Nepal and Pakistan, Asociaciòn Oikos, Clean Energy Nepal, Consorcio para el Desarrollo Sostenible de la Ecorregión Andina (CONDESAN) and the Mountain Partnership Secretariat. The programme will be shared soon.
