Mountain Presence at UNFCCC COP 25
Madrid, Spain

Dear Mountain Partnership Focal Points,

We have the pleasure of contacting you to gather information about your mountain related activities at the UNFCCC COP25. Please share with us all relevant information to allow us to compile a complete list of mountain events at the COP.

Also, kindly let us know if any high level participants from your national delegations, such as royalties, head of states or ministers could be available as speakers for a mountain event.

As you know - due to the change of venue from Santiago, Chile to Madrid, Spain – the exact timing of the side events has not yet been provided by the UNFCCC Secretariat. Nevertheless, it is confirmed that four Mountain Partnership (MP) events will take place at the UNFCCC COP 25.

· The first event is about “Driving adaptation in mountains through economic innovation and ecosystem-based approaches” which is tentatively scheduled for the 10 December.

· The second event is about “Building resilience of mountain communities: data and science for policy action” and is scheduled for the 11 December.

· A third event will be a joint session among UNU/GLOMOS together with UNESCO and UN-REDD on 9th December.

· The fourth event is planned in the Chilean Pavilion for the celebration of the International Mountain Day on 11 December, also tbc.

We kindly ask the Mountain Partnership focal points to inform your delegations to COP 25 about these events.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Kind regards,

Rosalaura
