In Tanzania the World Milk Day celebrations have started today in Njombe Municipality, South Western Tanzania. They started with the procession of School children round the municipality and ending at the Mpechi Secondary School grounds and were received by the Acting Regional Commissioner and other senior government dignitaries. The celebrations will run up to 1st June, the World Milk Day. Attached are some pictures from the event.

Just a reminder to everyone that World Milk Day is on 1st June … it’s not too late to plan a celebration, if you haven’t already done so.

Dear Members,
As we move into the year, I would like to remind everyone to mark World Milk Day (1 June)<http://www.fao.org/economic/est/est-commodities/dairy/school-milk/15th-world-milk-day/en/> and World School Milk Day (28 September)<http://www.fao.org/economic/est/est-commodities/dairy/school-milk/en/> in their diaries.
Remember, it’s up to you to decide what type of celebration you wish to hold – this could be anything from a Press Release to a national event.
In order to get some inspiration, details of previous years’ events are contained at:
Report on 15th World Milk Day 2015<http://www.fao.org/fileadmin/templates/est/COMM_MARKETS_MONITORING/Dairy/Documents/World_Milk_Day_2015.pdf>
Report on 16th World School Milk Day 2015<http://www.fao.org/fileadmin/templates/est/COMM_MARKETS_MONITORING/Dairy/Documents/School_Milk_Day_2015.pdf>
As you will see, these Days have been around for over fifteen years – so children who participated in the first school milk days would now be young adults. Therefore, new ideas to bring spontaneity and excitement are always welcome.
Also, once you have planned a celebration, we would be very happy to hear about it, so that we can publicise it via the e-network and provide inspiration to others.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Michael
