We are pleased to invite you to participate in the “Interactive Policy Dialogue on the Environment-Health Nexus in Asia and the Pacific,” jointly organised by the United Nations ESCAP and IISD in collaboration with FAO, UNEP and WHO, to be held virtually on 14 September 2022, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (GMT+7, Bangkok) via Zoom.
Health risks arise from environmental factors, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable food systems are increasingly burdening the Asia-Pacific health systems and threating the lives and livelihoods of the most vulnerable population in the region. An integrated and cross-sectoral approach to the environment-health nexus can guide impactful, efficient national and regional policy responses to converging health and environmental risks, and advance delivery on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Interactive Policy Dialogue will bring together policymakers and stakeholders working in the areas of public health, environment, agriculture and food systems management to advance understanding and identify priorities for operationalizing the environment-health nexus in public policies, with a focus on the One Health approach. Speakers and participants will discuss pathways to strengthen national and regional governance of interlinkages between health, climate change, biodiversity, and food systems, including through multilateral processes.

The concept note including programme outline and a flyer are enclosed. For the background document and other updates, please visit:
