We are seeing, around the world, that girls are already taking exemplary action at local and global levels. However, restrictive cultural and social norms that pervade many areas of girls' lives also have an impact on girls' ability to act and their basic right to participate. In addition, girls often do not have access to climate change education and knowledge appropriate to their age and context.

For the 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, this side event brings together partners from the “Girl-led Action on Climate Change” program including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) together with YUNGA to explore:

-How do we ensure girls from diverse backgrounds are heard, so they can make their priorities heard and have a seat at the table?

-What is the role of in-context and age-appropriate education on climate change that empowers girls to lead change?

-What is the status of girl-led action on climate change and how can the international community support emerging girl-led action on climate change?

During this girl-led event, they will present important insights into the state of girls' activism and performance around climate change and their perceptions of its impact on gender.

This will be a dynamic and interactive girl-led event bringing together young people from WAGGGS, YOUNGO and YUNGA with authorities to discuss how they can collaborate in their activism and how, together, we can create an environment that
