ICT use to Attract Young to a Profitable Agriculture

Last 25th September, IFAD invited IICD<http://www.iicd.org/about/publications/ict4d-effects-youth-icts-and-agriculture> and CTA<http://ardyis.cta.int/> to present their experience on how ICT can attract young people to farming. These 2 institutions demonstrated the positive impacts of using ICT on young people and their communities. They gave examples of different services offered by ICT to and by young farmers and service providers. They showed how access to ICT stimulates innovative production amongst youngsters, changes their image of farming and increases their social status.

The answers to this online forum question were shared at a Global Dialogue on Family Farming<http://forestry.fao.msgfocus.com/c/1cDi84uE2GrE6Byf8kISUS> held at FAO from 27-28 October, and included a contribution from the Mountain Partnership Secretariat with case studies of women in mountain family farming who have benefited from targeted initiatives.
