Dear APCAS-List members,

Project: MTF /RAS/372/MUL - Asian Regional Component- Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics

FAO, ESCAP and ADB are leading the formulation of a Regional Action Plan (RAP) of the Global Strategy to Improve Rural and Agricultural Statistics, a strategy developed by FAO, World Bank and others in 2010 and endorsed by the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC). A Steering Group for Agricultural Statistics (SGAS) was established by the ESCAP Committee on Statistics (CST), functioning under the auspices of APCAS and CST, to oversee the preparation of the Plan.

A Regional Office (RO) is being established in FAO-RAP to assist the finalisation and initial implementation of the RAP, including serving as the Secretariat of the Regional Steering Committee (RSC).

Therefore, FAO is looking for an International Consultant in Statistics to coordinate the final preparation and preliminary implementation of the Plan as well as coordinate the tasks of the RO. The incumbent must have more than 10 years of international experience in planning, management and implementation of statistical capacity development programmes, preferably in the region.  Background in Agricultural surveys and national agricultural systems is desirable.  Familiarity with FAO and the Global Strategy to improve rural and agricultural statistics is a plus. The initial duration is five months based in Bangkok to start as soon as possible. Kindly circulate this vacancy among your colleagues. The TOR is attached.

TO APPLY: Carefully read and follow the Guidelines to applicants: Please send an application letter stating your expression of interest and qualifications together with the CV and a completed Personnel History Form (available at the FAO website HTTP://WWW.FAO.ORG/FILEADMIN/USER_UPLOAD/EMPLOYMENT/ADM11E.DOT) to [log in to unmask].

Cordially,
