Subject: Mountain Partnership-IPROMO Alumni Network - #FOM-MOUNTAIN-VALUES

Dear IPROMO students and teachers,

I would like to share with you the attached file which includes information - organized by country - on how many students have been trained by the IPROMO programme and the teachers who have kindly participated and made available their knowledge.
As you can see, there is now in many countries a "critical mass" to initiate a mountain dialogue to deal with mountain development at national and regional level. This action could and should complement other on-going activities and this is why the Mountain Partnership National Focal points are also copied and included in the table. We encourage you all to contact each other and decide if there is scope and interest to build a small IPROMO/Mountain Partnership group in your country or region.

We, the staff of the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, are here to facilitate this process to the extent possible. Please keep us informed about your progress!

As you know, 50 governments are members of the Mountain Partnership, hence if for your country there is no focal point it is because your country is not yet a member. This however should not prevent you from building or joining an IPROMO/Mountain Partnership group at country or regional level. The list of members is also attached for your easy reference.

I look forward to hearing from you and wish you luck for your work together to promote mountains.

Subject: Welcome to the IPROMO Alumni network!

Dear IPROMO participants,

A warm welcome to the IPROMO Alumni Network to the newly added 2012 students and instructors!

This Network aims at bringing together the participants, instructors and organisers of the IPROMO programme. Similar to other such networks, its purpose is to help the group to stay in touch, facilitate further discussion and stimulate joint action on mountain issues. It will also provide "mountain friends" in a foreign country or in a different organization, whenever needed. It was initiated in 2008 after the first IPROMO course and now the email addresses of the 2012 participants have been added.

As you know, IPROMO was conceived as a long-term programme targeting mainly member countries and organizations of the Mountain Partnership<http://www.mountainpartnership.org/>. This means that each year - if we will be able to mobilize the financial resources needed - a new group of students and instructors will be added to the Alumni Network. On the IPROMO web site<http://www.ipromo-school.it/en/> most of the presentations made during the 2012 course have been uploaded - please feel free to use and share them.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago in Ormea to the participants to the latest course, the Alumni Network has now reached - especially in some countries/regions - a critical mass that allows to start forming small mountain clusters or committees. As you may know, a few countries - especially in the Andes - have established a "Mountain Committee" that can serve as a space for dialogue and cooperation. In other countries, similar bodies may be created at the initiative of the IPROMO Alumni members.

In the Mountain Partnership website, all national and organizational focal points<http://www.mountainpartnership.org/members/en/> are listed and contact details are provided. Please identify your national focal point if any and get in contact with him/her. If your Country is not listed it is because it is not yet a member of the Mountain Partnership.

If you have any query regarding this Alumni Network, please do not hesitate to contact me. Should you find mistakes or incomplete information please send an email to me (only).

This network has been set up for you - please use it to exchange ideas and views, to build alliances and new collaboration and to suggest joint activities!

This is a new email list - kindly stop using the old (D-group) list for the IPROMO ALUMNI.

Kind regards to all and let's stay in touch,

Rosalaura
