Press conference to present new hunger report - FAO headquarters, 9 OctoberIncludes new figures on the number of hungry people in the world, analysis of role of economic growth in reducing chronic hunger On Tuesday 9 October at 10:00h Rome-time, the three Rome-based UN food agencies – The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the UN World Food Program (WFP) – will publish the 2012 edition of the annual The State of Food Insecurity in the World (SOFI) report. This year’s edition of SOFI presents new estimates of the number and proportion of hungry people in the world, reflecting updated data and several key improvements in the methodology used by FAO to measure hunger. The new SOFI and its main findings will be presented at a news conference at FAO’s headquarters, which will be webcast live. The report will also be available online from 10:00h at http://www.fao.org/publications/sofi/en/
