World Food Day is celebrated on Tuesday 16 October at a ceremony at FAO headqarters as well as in 100 countries worldwide. The theme this year is Agricultural cooperatives: key to feeding the world, in recognition of the role cooperatives play in improving food security and contributing to the eradication of hunger.

A Ministerial meeting on volatile food prices will take place on 16 October, 12:00-13:30h moderated by
Stéphane Le Foll, French agriculture minister. The meeting will share experiences and knowledge on how to
enhance the effectiveness of measures to address food price volatility and to reduce its impact on the most
vulnerable populations. Ministers of agriculture who are in Rome for World Food Week will participate. A press
conference is scheduled immediately after the meeting.

            José Graziano da Silva. Other ministers will be present.

The Committee on World Food Security (CFS) meets 15-20 October. It is the foremost inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for governments, civil society, experts and others to work together to ensure food security and nutrition for all. All sessions are open to the media.
