Media encounter with President of Haiti and FAO Director-General – FAO headquarters, 22 November

 

On Thursday 22 November 2012 at 17.30h, Haitian President Michel Joseph Martelly and FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva will be available to speak to journalists about the food security situation in Haiti.  

Hurricane Sandy hit Haiti on 23 October, causing enormous damage to Haiti’s crops, land, livestock, fisheries and rural infrastructures. It left 600,000 Haitians at risk of food and nutrition insecurity.

Earlier this month, FAO and the Government of Haiti announced they were seeking $74 million over the next 12 months to help rehabilitate the country’s agricultural sector.
