FAO Country Profiles Newsletter

Best wishes to you and yours for the new year

2012 has been an exciting year for the FAO Country Profiles portal.
It has been a year of changes, many of which just started and will be fully implemented from 2013. This year has been the beginning of a wide process of renovation of the FAO Country Profiles portal, which migrated to an efficient platform. The portal is now integrated with the FAO Data Warehouse, which was launched last week. One of the benefits originating from the use of data.fao.org is the use of a new mapping system, that increases the number of available maps on the portal and their global coverage. The portal now offers about 2000 maps, covering all 193 FAO Member states with over 9000 visits every month. The image quality of the new maps has also improved through the use of data.fao.org. Within the framework of renovation of the FAO Country Profile portal, in 2012 we have also started leading a study to understand the status of FAO country offices and field projects Web sites and the type of available information. The FAO Country Profiles Team wishes you Happy Holidays and a fabulous 2013!
