Dear Members,

Here below you will see that a Christmas Concert is to be held on 19 December at the American high school St. Stephen's.
You will note that this Concert is for a very good cause and if these people can be helped, in particular the children, then we think every effort should be made to attend.
Let's do our best to be there!!
With kind regards to you all,

Deborah Ryan
FFOA Office Assistant

No doubt you have been keeping up with the sad news of how Syria is descending into civil war. And like any internal conflict, the first to suffer, and those who suffer most are Children.

It's essential that we step back and ignore the politics and cynicism that is driving the conflict because children are children--their suffering, their spent innocence, and the impact this war will have on their lives will happen regardless of what transpires politically. And as a mother myself, this gives me great pain. I have stood up to support the suffering of children whenever I had the opportunity, and this time it hurts even more because it's happening in my homeland.

As we head into the holiday season, it's almost impossible to enjoy Christmas and to celebrate the new year without that nagging conscience that we could be doing something to help, no matter how simple. That we could be the ones who didn't sit back and do nothing.

This is why my family and I are organizing a beautiful Christmas Concert on the 19th of December in Rome at the American high school St. Stephen's, of which my sister Shaza and I are alumni. All proceeds from the ticket sales and the donations raised will be given to the UK branch of the reputable relief agency, the International Rescue Committee for their urgent work with Syrian refugee children.

Please spread the word to your friends who may be in Rome. This is our web site for the event http://romeconcert.org/ They can purchase tickets online, or make a donation. It's all easy, secure, and will only take a minute.

And of course, I am reaching out to you directly dear friend to make a contribution to this cause. Anything, even 10 Euros, will go a long way and will ensure that when you are celebrating the holidays with your beautiful families this year, you will be content in the knowledge that you didn't just sit back and do nothing. You can donate here: http://romeconcert.org/?page_id=129

I am including below all of our relevant social media links so you can spread the word far and wide! If you are on Facebook, please Like our page. And if you are on Twitter, please follow us! And once again, please, please donate!

I send you lots of love and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to see you soon in Rome!

Mona
