Press conference to launch The State of Food and Agriculture 2012: Investing in Agriculture - for a better future
6 December, 10:30hrs. at FAO Headquarters
The world’s more than one billion farmers, who are the largest investors in agriculture, should be at the centre of any strategy aimed at improving agricultural investment. Investing more and better in agriculture is one of the most effective ways to reduce hunger and poverty while safeguarding the environment.
This is the core message of the latest edition of FAO’s annual flagship publication, The State of Food and Agriculture 2012 (SOFA), which will be presented on Thursday, 6 December. SOFA calls on governments to create a more conducive investment climate in order to unlock the full investment potential of farmers in many rural areas.
