Monday, 10 December – Director-General José Graziano da Silva delivers the opening speech of the international seminar “Crops of the past and new crops to meet the challenges of the 21st century” in Córdoba, Spain. His topic is the role of underutilized crops as a key to food security. The seminar will be webcast at: http://www.ceia3.es/

 

Tuesday, 11 December – Graziano da Silva signs a partnership agreement with the Academia Iberoamericana de Gastronomia (Iberoamerican Gastronomy Academy) in Córdoba.

 

Thursday, 13 December – FAO chief attends the Summit of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Heads of State and Government in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. Issues to be discussed include south-south cooperation, the Millennium Development Goals, sustainable development and enhancing the role of the ACP countries in the global arena.
