Dear Partners and Observers,
In light of comments received further to the message below, we are pleased to circulate the revised draft scope and programme of work of the Activity Group 4 “Towards sustainable modern wood energy development” and Activity Group 5 “The Global Renewable Energy Atlas – Bioenergy Component” for a second round of comments to be sent to the GBEP Secretariat by 28 February 2013. A final draft version of both documents will be circulated by the end of March 2013 for consideration at the next GBEP meetings in Berlin (28-31 May 2013).
Kindly note that additional information regarding the programme of work of the “Bioenergy Week”, to be held in Brasilia in mid March, will be circulated shortly.
Kind regards,
GBEP Secretariat

Subject: GBEP WGCB Activity Groups: deadlines for next steps
Dear Colleagues and Participants,
We would like to express our sincere and profound appreciation to all of you for taking part in the GBEP meetings last week in Rome, and for providing extremely valuable contribution to the discussions.
We would also like to remind you that 7 December 2012 is the deadline to provide the GBEP Secretariat with comments and contributions on the followings:
· Agenda of the “Study tour/Bioenergy week” to take place in Embrapa Agroenergy, in Brasília, from 11 to 15 March 2013 (Activity Group 3).
Suggestions on themes to be discussed during the “Study tour/Bioenergy week” as well as indication of potential speakers sharing experiences and lessons learned on the sustainable development of bioenergy around the world would be highly appreciated. - Kindly note that the duration of the study tour has been shorten to one week, with respect to what initially proposed in the scope and programme of work (attached);
· Focus of the Activity Group 4 “Towards sustainable modern wood energy development”.
Suggestions and comments on the focus of this Activity Group (traditional wood use and woody biomass for large scale modern bioenergy), in light of the discussion in Rome last week, would be highly appreciated. - On this regard, as mentioned by the Co-chairs of the WGCB, we would like to highlight that the GBEP Secretariat received a letter from the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC), dated 13 November 2012, expressing the interest to collaborate with GBEP on capacity building related activities, including on “scaling up sustainable production of biomass-based fuels for cooking, incorporating women entrepreneurs in the fuels value chain and reaching the last mile for distribution”;
· Scope of work of the Activity Group 5 “The Global Renewable Energy Atlas – Biomass Component” (attached);
Suggestions and comments on the scope of work of this Activity Group (possibly in track change mode) would be highly appreciated.
· Communication strategy (attached)
Suggestions and comments on the scope of work of this Activity Group (possibly in track change mode), including expression of support both financially and in-kind (through secondment of staff to the GBEP Secretariat based in FAO Headquarters) would be highly appreciated.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind colleagues that the e-forum discussion related to Activity Group 2 - "Raising awareness and sharing of data and experiences from the implementation of the GBEP indicators" - is online and active in the MyGBEP section of the GBEP website (http://www.globalbioenergy.org/login/en/) and we encourage you to use it for discussions related to AG2. To access the forum you need to login with a username and a password. Those of you who have not received a password yet may request it to the GBEP Secretariat and we will provide you with all necessary information.
Finally, we inform you that presentations given during the GBEP meetings in Rome will be available on the GBEP website shortly, and conclusions of the meetings will be circulated soon.
We look forward to continuing our cooperation.
Kind regards,
GBEP Secretariat
