“How to Fully Engage the Youth in Enhancing Fisheries and Aquaculture in Sub Saharan Africa”
In order to bring a youth perspective to the development of aquaculture and fisheries, the Youth For Fish Program (YFFP) is inviting young people (15-35 years) to participate in an essay competition. The topic is: “How to Fully Engage the Youth in Enhancing Fisheries and Aquaculture in Sub Saharan Africa”. The African Fisheries Experts Network (Afri-fishnet) will sponsor winning candidates (travel, accommodation and meals) to attend and present their essay at the National Conference on Aquaculture and Fisheries in Malawi (6th-8th March 2013).
This national conference on the theme of 'Aquaculture & Fisheries for Socio-Economic Growth' will provide a platform where all players (ranging from policy makers, research institutions and implementing agencies) can engage in discussions and learn about the initiatives being undertaken within the fisheries sector. The conference will be hosted by Bunda College (Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources-LUANAR), in partnership with NEPAD (the New Partnership for Africa's Development; through the NEPAD Regional Fish Node at Bunda), the Department of Fisheries and the National Commission of Science and Technology (NCST).
