Postdoctoral Associate Position in Remote Sensing Applications in Agriculture
Title:
Postdoctoral Associate.

Salary Range:
Monthly salary of 20,000 RMB, plus travel expenses between Beijing and the city of origin.
Start Date:
September 15th, 2013 or as soon as a qualified applicant is found.
Duration:
One year, with possible extension for an additional year.
Brief Description of Duties:
The candidate will be actively involved with various aspects of remote sensing applications in agriculture, especially on regional crop production forecasts using remote sensing. Inter-continental comparisons between different crop production forecasting methods will be the primary focus of his/her research, including crop yield prediction and hectarage estimation. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with the project director and graduate students in a professional, collaborative, and team-oriented manner.
Advisor Information:
Dr. Prof. Wu Bingfang is currently a professor and the head of Laboratory of Agriculture & Environment in the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is the author of more than 250 papers and has written one book. His current research interests include crop monitoring with remote sensing, water resources monitoring, and regional/global eco-environmental evaluation. Qualifications:Ph.D. at time of appointment focused on remote sensing or geographic modeling. At least one publication accepted in a peer-reviewed English journal. Strong statistical and programming skills. Experience in relevant GIS/RS software packages.
Preferred qualifications:
Research experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
Crop bio-chemical/bio-physical parameter retrieval
Crop yield/hectarage estimation
Remote sensing based crop modeling
Agricultural drought monitoring
Programming experience in IDL
Starting date:
Ideal start date is September 15th, 2013, or as soon as a qualified candidate is found.
