Tools for formulating food safety policies based on solid evidence

The EU-FAO programme is supporting the development of improved tools for formulating food safety policies. The tools use solid evidence covering health, market access and trade, economic potential and food security.

The programme will be testing this approach in several developing countries with Uganda designated as the pilot country. A framework for guiding evidence-based food safety decisions, and strengthening food safety as an essential part of ensuring food security, is being developed.

New Workshop Report: Élaboration d’une vision commune pour renforcer la performance, l’équité et la gouvernance des organisations de producteurs et productrices agricoles au Niger

Producers’ organizations (POs) play a crucial role in the fight against poverty and food insecurity. However, specific groups such as women and young people, are sometimes excluded from the benefits that POs offer. CoOPéquité is working in Niger to support the implementation of policies and other measures to make POs more inclusive, equitable and effective. As part of this effort, a major workshop was held in Niger in November 2012.
