Please find attached the weekly Empres Animal Influenza Update, which includes summaries of suspected, confirmed and denied outbreaks/cases in affected countries. Since the last update, the following new items have been included:



AFRICAN REGION



South Africa

- Confirmed H7N7 LPAI outbreaks in ostriches (Western Cape)



ASIAN REGION



Cambodia

- Confirmed H5N1 infection in a human (Prey Veng)



Indonesia

- Suspected H5N1 outbreak in poultry (West Java)



Nepal

- Suspected H5N1 infection in poultry (Kathmandu)

Through the months of July and August, the EMPRES Animal Influenza Update will be published every two weeks.  Therefore, the next issue will be distributed on Thursday, 1 August 2013.




FAO compiles information from numerous sources (FAO representatives or country missions, FAO reports, OIE, official government sources, European Commission, FAO reference centres, laboratories and FAO collaborators) and produces these composite maps in a representative effort to provide full and accurate information.
