Overview 

  • The Indus and Chenab rivers continue to inundate floodplains and vulnerable regions in Sindh and Punjab.
  • The NDMA reports more than 1.3 million people have been affected by monsoon floods; satellite imagery indicates severe impact in the affected regions.
  • Stagnant water in flood-affected areas raises public health concerns over the risk of malaria and waterborne diseases.
  • Water reservoirs are nearing or at their optimum storage capacity, leaving limited capacity to absorb fresh floods.
  • Monsoon rainfall has reduced and forecasts until 7 September indicate precipitation of varying intensity in the upper
    regions of the country.
