The 10th World Seafood Congress in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, co-organized by FAO, will bring together producers, importers and representatives of regulatory and non-regulatory bodies to discuss food safety inspection, sustainability, innovation in seafood production technologies and trade. Monday-Thursday

The 19th Session of the African Forestry Wildlife Commission (AFWC) will meet in Windhoek, Namibia, in the context of the 3rd African Forestry and Wildlife Week. One of six regional forestry commissions established by FAO, the AFWC meets every two years and provides a policy and technical forum for heads of forest and wildlife services of member countries in the region. http://www.fao.org/forestry/afwc/en/

 

 

Tuesday

Release of the UN hunger report on chronic hunger and undernutrition, State of Food Insecurity in the World 2013, jointly published by FAO, IFAD and WFP. The progress report will look at the factors which influence food security and what can be done to improve people’s opportunities for food secure, healthier, and more productive lives. http://www.fao.org

 

Thursday

Release of the Food Price Index, a measure of the monthly change in international prices of a basket of food commodities, and the quarterly Crop Prospects and Food Situation report, which looks at supply and demand conditions by country/region. http://www.fao.org/GIEWS/english/cpfs/index.htm
