09-13 Visit of Dutch Queen Maxima to Ethiopia and Tanzania with heads/reps of FAO, IFAD and WFP

Opening of the European Forest Week in Rovaniemi, Finland. European forestry ministers meet to discuss how to apply the principles of a green economy in the forst sector by 2020. Santa Claus will be appointed Ambassador for Forests.

 

Tues 10

Analysis of the impact of typhoon Haiyan on the fisheries sector in the Philippines will be released.

 

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and heads of FAO, WFP plus IFAD representative visit Ethiopia and Tanzania to highlight the role of financial inclusion in improving the lives of the rural poor.

 

Wed 11

International Mountain Day is celebrated on the theme of Mountains – Key to a Sustainable Future. A publication on Mountains and Family Farming will be launched in recognition of the International Year of Family Farming 2014.
