Dear All and moderator

My name is Arife ERTURK. I am Head of Viral
Diagnosis laboratory in Etlik Veterinary Control Central Research Institute in Ankara, Turkey. Approximately 3 weeks I am following
PPR GREN. First of all I would like to mention that I am very happy for being
in this group. I would like to thank all and especially Dr. Peter ROEDER and
Dr. John ANDERSON. They have contributed a lot to our studies about Rinderpest
and PPR on 1991 and 1999 respectively in first occurrence of these diseases in Turkey. We have learned many valuable
information from them concerning RP Eradication and also PPR disease
Control. I would like to give some information
about studies of PPR in our country. PPR problem still continuing but our
Ministry of Food Agriculture and Livestock have get many activities about combating
with PPR. We have finalized Contingency Plan and EU Project (Project
No: TR0802.08/01/001)
titled “Technical Assistance for Ear Tagging and Vaccination of Sheep and Goats”. We use PPR homologous vaccine
(Nijeria/75-1). I agree with Dr. Couacy-Hymann
that PPR Control and eradication is specific
objective and should be taken separately.

Thank you all for your contribution.

Best regards

Dr. Arife ERTURK
