Regional Conference for Europe

Palace of the Parliament, Bucharest, 1-4 April

Family farming could be the ‘wave of the future’ – for food supply and for safeguarding natural resources. Governments also set to address food waste and losses, the current state of food and agriculture in Europe and Central Asia, and more.

FAO will convene the 29th Regional Conference for Europe – at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania – from 2 to 4 April 2014. The conference is expected to attract government ministers and senior officials from countries across the region.

Delegates will look at strategies for maximizing the potential of small-scale, family farming to feed expanding populations, and review the current state of food and agriculture in Europe and Central Asia. A Ministerial Round Table on 3 April will examine ways of reducing food waste and losses in the region, where a significant amount of the food being produced is lost along the food chain.

All formal sessions of the Regional Conference are open to accredited members of the press and will also be webcast live. Advance registration strongly recommended.
