Hi Amy, another place to try is the WHO food consumption databases from national nutrition surveys from around the world. Dr Philippe Verger is working with a team to collate and update a database of large portion sizes for different foods for the purpose of food chemical risk assessments, and may be worth contacting with your particular request about children's data. We are in the process of redesigning the software for one of our bespoke tools: the Cost of the Diet. The Cost of the Diet is a method developed by SC UK to calculate the minimum amount of money a typical household would need to purchase their recommended intakes of energy, protein, fat and micronutrients, using locally available foods. We are trying to improve and update the underlying parameters of the software, one of which are children's (12-23 month old) recommended or actual portion sizes for food. Unfortunately we haven't been able to find much published data especially in developing countries. I was wondering if any of you know of any such data that you could direct me to. Failing that, do you know of any academics, universities or other institutions who are doing this research and maybe able to help me? Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.
