Karen Scanlon, executive director of the Conservation Technology
Information Center, one of the event's organizers, is encouraging everyone
to take advantage of the special rates before the deadline.

"Attendees from more than 40 countries will benefit greatly from the
valuable information that WCCA will showcase," Scanlon said. "We've worked
hard to make the conference affordable, and we hope attendees will take
advantage of all the Congress has to offer."

She noted that the conference focuses on innovation in agriculture and the
practical application of conservation practices to improve sustainability
of agriculture.

One of the best opportunities to see conservation on farms in the U.S. and
Canada is through the tours offered after the sessions end at the Winnipeg
Convention Centre. A one-day
tour<http://ctic.us3.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=322a2359adf7262cd17ce6b30&id=c1eb512ed9&e=8004a3835f>of
southern Manitoba and a three
and one half-day
tour<http://ctic.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=322a2359adf7262cd17ce6b30&id=55e7ec079d&e=8004a3835f>of
farms and research in Manitoba, North Dakota and South Dakota will
feature the Great Plains of the U.S. and Canada, which saw some of the
earliest development of tools and techniques for reducing tillage and
erosion.

During the Congress, participants can hear from over 50 conservation
agriculture experts, from farmers to researchers and representatives of the
industry. Opening keynote speaker David
Montgomery<http://ctic.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=322a2359adf7262cd17ce6b30&id=2b69c0329c&e=8004a3835f>,
professor of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington, will
share how he sees the recent rise of no-till farming as "the hope for a new
agricultural revolution that might help us avoid the fate of previous
civilizations."

Charlene Finck with Farm Journal Media will have a conversation with Howard
Buffett<http://ctic.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=322a2359adf7262cd17ce6b30&id=e97de9c4b5&e=8004a3835f>,
chair of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, a private family foundation
working to improve the standard of living and quality of life for the
world's most impoverished and marginalized populations. Buffett also has
written several books on conservation. He will share how he first became
interested in conservation and where it has taken him.

The conference will close with an address by Dwayne
Beck<http://ctic.us3.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=322a2359adf7262cd17ce6b30&id=a5b92989d2&e=8004a3835f>,
manager of the Dakota Lakes Research Farm in South Dakota and well-known
speaker on minimizing costs and maximizing returns when implementing
conservation practices.

Additional speakers will highlight conservation practices in their
countries through presentations, panel discussions and research poster
presentations. The Congress also will include an Exhibit Hall and Resource
Center featuring the latest conservation technologies and resources.

Producers, government agencies, academic institutions, private sector
companies, non-governmental organizations and commercial sponsors all play
significant roles providing support and expertise for WCCA from their
respective fields.
