HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIODIVERSITY!
Recent developments from FAO: YUNGA, 22nd May 2014
‘Bio’ means life and ‘diversity’ means variety, so biodiversity (or biological diversity) refers to the incredible variety of living plants and animals in nature and how they interact with each other in their natural habitats and ecosystems. It is extremely important that we help to protect the biodiversity that exists in the world! Many current and anticipated environmental challenges are linked to biodiversity.
On the occasion of International Day for Biodiversity we would like to remind you of our Biodiversity Challenge Badge! The badge is available online in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Find it online at: http://yunga-youth.weebly.com/biodiversity.html
We also have The Youth Guide to Biodiversity available, which has more detailed information about biodiversity issues and what actions young people can take to ensure we have a sustainable future. Take a look: www.fao.org/docrep/017/i3157e/i3157e00.htm
