Dear all,

First of all, let me again express our gratitude to Prof. Isaac Olu Akinyele, our former AFROFOODS coordinator, and our sadness for him passing away in March 2013. He did a lot for Africa and was involved in INFOODS activities almost from the beginning.

 

I am pleased to inform you that we have new AFROFOODS coordinators. During several sykpe meetings, we decided to have for the African region and each sub-region a coordinator and a vice coordinator in order to be stronger and to be able to get more work done. In addition, we held an AFROFOODS meeting on 22 July 2014 at the ANEC IV conference in Accra, Ghana, which was attended by over 50 participants.

WAFOODS coordinator: George Amponsah Annor from Ghana

WAFOODS vice coordinator: Paulina Addy from Ghana

ECSAFOODS coordinator: Zohra Lukmanji from Tanzania

ECSAFOODS vice coordinator: to be identified

CAFOODS coordinator: Pascal Christiant Kouebou from Cameroon

CAFOODS vice coordinator: Achu Mercy Bih Loh from Cameroon

Scientific Advisor: Hettie Schoenfeldt

 

In addition, a new position was created to collect the names of foods consumed in Africa which is not found in any food composition table. Mr. Ibukun J. Afolami ([log in to unmask]) volunteered to collect this information. I would like to thank him for volunteering to carry out this task. Please send him the missing foods from FCT. They will be used when developing new or updating the existing food composition tables and databases.
