Please find attached the weekly Empres Animal Influenza Update, which includes summaries of suspected, confirmed and denied outbreaks/cases in affected countries. Since the last update, the following new items have been included:

 

AFRICAN REGION

 

Egypt (endemic for H5N1)

- Confirmed H5N1 infection in a human (Menia)

- Confirmed H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in poultry (Beni Suef, Dakahlia, Damietta, Giza, Kafr-el-sheikh, Qena, Sohag)

- Suspected H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in poultry (Menoufia)

 

ASIAN REGION

 

China

- Confirmed H7N9 infection in humans (Zhejiang)

- Confirmed presence of H7N9 virus or H7 antibodies in poultry (Guangdong, Henan, Shanghai)

 

Indonesia (endemic for H5N1)

- Confirmed H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in poultry (Yogyakarta)

- Suspected H5N1 HPAI outbreaks in poultry (West Sumatra, North Sulawesi)

 

EUROPEAN REGION

 

Italy

- Confirmed H7N1 LPAI in poultry (Emilia Romagna)
