Policy Round TablesAt CFS 41 there will be two policy round tables that will lead to the adoption of concrete and actionable policy recommendations. They are: - Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture for Food Security and Nutrition

Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems #raiNegotiations were successfully concluded on 8 August 2014. Over 150 Members, Participants, and Observers participated representing member countries, civil society organizations, private sector associations, UN agencies, international financial institutions, research institutions and private philanthropic foundations. The agreed document will be presented to CFS 41 for endorsement and is available in the Session Documents page. |

Coordination and Linkages with CFSFor the global and regional sections there will be panel discussions. The global section will address "Food Security and Nutrition in the Post 2015 framework" and the regional section will focus on "CAADP/NEPAD’s Efforts to Mainstream Nutrition in Agriculture". National case studies and lessons learned will look at the Right to Food experiences from El Salvador, India and Jordan. CFS 41 Special EventWorld Food Day is celebrated during CFS on October 16th with the theme of Family Farming. On the afternoon of World Food Day, CFS will host a Special Event in partnership with World Food Day and the Steering Committee of the International Year of Family Farming. The event will take the form of an interactive panel discussion with the theme "Innovation in Family Farming: Towards Ensuring Food Security and Nutrition". CFS 41 Side Events and Information Market PlaceThirty six side events on a wide range of food security and nutrition issues are scheduled throughout the week. Some are in the morning before the session, some are during lunchtime and some are in the evening. The Side Events Timetable is posted on the CFS 41 web page. There will also be an information marketplace where background material on food security and nutrition will be available. |

HLPE News #hlpe The HLPE has published a Note on Critical and Emerging Issues for Food Security and Nutrition, requested by the CFS 40 in October 2013. The note is available in all official languages on the Session Documents page. The HLPE will release the V0 draft of its report on "Water and Food Security" by 1st October 2014, for an electronic consultation to last until the end of October 2014. Please be sure to contribute: www.fao.org/cfs/cfs-hlpe The HLPE Steering Committee will hold its 10th meeting from 17th – 19th November 2014 at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the kind invitation of Prof Bernardo Kliksberg, Honorary Professor at Buenos Aires University and HLPE Steering Committee member. On 20th November 2014, an international seminar will be hosted by the University of Buenos Aires with the HLPE, on the theme of “Rising inequalities, a growing concern for food and nutrition security. How to cope with it?”. The Seminar will build on the previous works of the HLPE, including the Note on Critical and Emerging Issues for Food Security and Nutrition, and on the work of the University of Buenos Aires, and discuss knowledge-based works and perspectives at different levels. |
