Island children will have a chance to learn how milk makes its way from farm to fridge on World School Milk Day (September 24 - Wednesday).
Year 1 pupils from Wootton Primary School will visit Briddlesford Lodge Farm<http://www.briddlesfordlodgefarm.co.uk/>, Wootton at 9.15am to find out more about the nutritional value of milk and how cows produce the white stuff on the Griffin family's farm.
Dairy farmer Judi Griffin says: "By visiting our dairy farm, children will learn that cows must have a calf before they can produce milk and milk doesn't just come out of a bottle or carton. We will show them how we care for our Guernsey cattle and ensure that our dairy cows can produce the creamy milk which arrives each day at their school.

"The children will also be offered a bowl of cereal and our own Buttercup milk. Milk is a wonderful natural food, full of goodness to help children make strong bones and teeth and to promote general good health throughout life."
Youngsters will enjoy a range of activities both in the farmyard and in the farm's purpose built classroom where they will watch a film about milk production. They will be shown a large map of the world and asked to stick pictures of Guernsey cows on the countries where they think other children may be celebrating World School Milk Day.
Special guests will include Island MP Andrew Turner, school governors, and representatives of the NFU and local government.
Media should contact Judi Griffin at Briddlesford Lodge Farm t: 01983 882239
to arrange interviews/photocalls.
