Dear Amir,
In a month I'll be in northern Ghana giving a training course on
certification schemes.
I'd like to ask to the members if they have information to share with me
about the agribusiness sector there: climate, soils, farmers
characteristics, crops, conservation agriculture, etc. Anything that would
help to understand better the farmers situation, specially in Tamale's
region.
All the certification schemes that I work on, are based on Good Agricultural Practices where CA is a key factor to being sustainable. As you may know, Certified Agriculture and RTRS were done with Aapresid's participation on those issues...and I was the person responsible to represent that position.
I'm always and will always been related to CA as the main focus in my work as a consultant, due to I'm absolutely convinced it's the solution to solve the production / demand dilemma, erosion, sustainability, climate change, etc.
This is why I'd need information about Ghana's agbiz sector, to adapt better my CA message to the real situation in there. In my opinion and experience, not always is possible to apply No Tillage as we do it in South America, it's necessary to adapt it to farmers reality and I don't know much about them and their ecosystem.
Best regards.
Andrés
