FAO's support to the HPAI emergency in Egypt



[cid:image013.jpg@01D05831.5819EC00]Egypt has been suffering from highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5N1 subtype for almost a decade and the disease is considered to be deeply entrenched in the poultry industry of the country. Outbreaks in poultry from both commercial and household sectors are at the order of the day all year round and occasionally humans get infected when they are in close contact with sick poultry, mainly in the context of household poultry keeping.
