G20 agriculture ministers meeting in Istanbul - FAO Director-General to attend
Food waste and losses, sustainable food systems to be in the spotlight
Istanbul, Turkey | 8 May 2015 FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva will join Turkish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock M. Mehdi Eker and other ministers and senior officials
from G20 countries at the upcoming G20 agriculture ministers meeting in Istanbul, Turkey (8 May). Graziano da Silva will deliver a speech during the event. At the close of the session, a final Ministerial Communiqué will be adopted as the basis for G20 action on food security, agriculture and related issues during
Turkey's presidency of the bloc. The communiqué will focus on four main themes: sustainable food systems, investment in agriculture, agricultural productivity growth through research and development and supporting smallholders, and managing food losses and
waste.
