Dear Partners,

Already it’s the second half of June, time is bound to go very fast and it won’t be long until the arrival of the XIV World Forestry Congress (WFC) in September. We would like to remind you all about taking advantage of the early bird registration, open until June 30th, to get the best value for your participation.

The WFC program is shaping up nicely, with 700 accepted papers and 200 side events, the congress will be the largest FAO event of the year. From our side, the preparations for our pre-congress “Building Momentum” between 5-6 September is going forward. This will be the opportunity for smallholders, community forestry-practitioners, forest and farm producers and people taking an interest in their livelihoods, to get organized and plan for a successful congress. The program will focus on the current state of the policy environment, community and producer groups operate in and how to influence key thematic areas. The second day will be devoted to how to build strong, membership, based organizations and strategizing before the WFC. If you are planning to attend in Durban we are hoping that you are also available for these two extra pre-congress days, as partners’ participation are key for shaping and sharing its messages.

More information will go up on the pre-congress webpage over the coming weeks, including a draft program.

We would appreciate to hear back from you, about your plans and possible participation. This information would help us plan and involve our partners in the program.

Please also get back to us with any questions you might have about the pre-congress.

Wishing you a happy summer and looking forward to see you in Durban!

Best wishes,

The working group for Building Momentum
