It proposes measures aimed at transforming the obesogenic environment and increasing nutritious food consumption and physical activity through the simultaneous and coordinated implementation of five action lines: a) primary health care and promotion of breastfeeding and healthy food; b) environment improvement in schools with respect to nutrition and physical activity; c) tax policies and regulation of food advertising, promotion and labelling; d) other multisectoral measures; e) monitoring, research and evaluation. The plan is based on the best available evidence and the experience of several countries in the region including Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, United States and Uruguay. Undoubtedly, the integrated and coordinated implementation of the plan’s lines of action allows addressing undernutrition in all its forms. What do you think?
