Hello colleagues! June is Dairy Month and USAID is pleased to highlight the importance of milk and milk production in efforts to raise incomes and improve nutrition for millions of households across the globe that depend on dairy animals for income and food.

To celebrate, several organizations that partner with USAID to implement dairy development projects will tell the story of their efforts to increase income and improve nutrition through increased milk production from dairy cows, goats and camels. We’ll also hear from the US Dairy Export Council, which represents scores of dairy processing plants across the US that supply milk products critical to saving the lives of thousands of malnourished infants and children across the globe.

You can join in USAID’s celebration of Dairy Month with our partners on Agrilinks (www.agrilinks.org<http://www.agrilinks.org>) starting next week. On Monday, click over to www.agrilinks.org/blog/thinkmilk<http://www.agrilinks.org/blog/thinkmilk> to learn more about Dairy Month and USAID’s work in the dairy sector.

USAID’s investment with dairy producers, governments and the private sector seeks to meet the promise of the Feed the Future Initiative, the commitment made by President Obama in 2010 to reduce both poverty and child stunting by 20% in households in 21 countries of Africa, Asia and Central America and the Caribbean (see www.feedthefuture.gov<http://www.feedthefuture.gov>).

We welcome your comments and look forward to hearing from you as we all celebrate June is Dairy Month!

Jim
