Dear Francesco and colleagues at the Family Farming Knowledge Platform, FFF country partners and SO3 colleagues,
I wanted to share with you the first of two publications highlighting forest and farm producers which will be officially “launched” at the World Forestry Congress. In addition to this edition of the ETFRN News (featured below – produced by Tropenbos International with papers written by many FFF team members and partners) – we will be launching a second book with our partners at IIED on Democratizing Forest Business will show case a range of successful business models for small holder and community based forestry enterprises. We hope that these two publications will add to the knowledge base and bring more attention to the vital role of smallholder forest and farm producer organizations.
We see this work which builds on FFF country programmes along with the activities we have been developing in collaboration with or ESP colleagues in the CoOPequity programme, partner country programmes (which will be highlighted as the DG signs a new Partnership agreement between FAO and WeEffect in Sweden), as part of the larger collaborative work at FAO addressing family farmers, and producer organizations and squarely based within the Strategic Objectives, Regional Initiatives and Country led processes.
Best,
Jeff
