Subject: Simple no-till punch planter for small scale farmers
Hi Everyone,
This video is of a new type of no-till hand planter that I designed and tested. I am now manufacturing them. See video below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPZhmU_dhQg
I am very familiar with the basin planting method. For the farmer that reached his capacity limit and wants to take the first step to speed up his planting process, this little tool is ideal. It is still very basic and has no seed / fertilizer meter. It is basically a pipe with a funnel on top and a special opening tip that enables the farmer to insert seed / fertilizer directly into the soil without having to dig basins. Eliminating digging can save a lot of time.
It is much ligther on your back. You use the foot to penetrate the punch point, so the ladies are not going to wear out their arms in the process.
The current cost for the single point planter is R353.50 (ex Potchefstroom). It is the closest a planter will get to the price of a hoe.
I invite you to contact me if you have any questions. Pleace forward the info to anyone you think might be interrested. The aim is to empower and uplift small scale subsistance farmers throught our products.
Best Regards
