v  GBEP annual meetings: state of the art of the Working Group on Capacity Building and re-opening of the Task Force on Sustainability

v  Back to the future: the Implementation Guide of the Task Force on Sustainability

The GBEP Task Force on Sustainability, which was established in June 2008 under the leadership of the United Kingdom (and then of Sweden after 2010), developed the report The Global Bioenergy Partnership Sustainability Indicators for Bioenergy. During GBEP annual meetings last year, it was suggested to re-open it with the scope of creating an Implementation Guide on the use of the GBEP Sustainability Indicators (GSIs). In June 2015, with the endorsement of the Steering Committee, the Task Force was officially re-opened and will now be led jointly by Sweden and Ghana.

v  Assessing the potential of under-utilized lands for sustainable bioenergy production in Europe: the FORBIO project

In a context of growing competition between land uses within and outside of Europe, bioenergy development is often seen as one of the possible contributors to such competition. However, in the EU there are portions of land which are not used and/or cannot be used for productive activities. A new project financed under the Horizon 2020 framework will start in January 2016 to assess the viability of using land for bioenergy feedstock production without interfering with the production of food or feed, nor with land currently used for recreational and/or conservational purposes.

v  Global Bioenergy Perspectives: REthinking Energy: Renewable Energy and Climate Change

The second edition of IRENA's flagship publication looks at how the transition to renewables could help limit global warming.

v  GBEP agenda for 2016
