The week-long sessions covered a wide range of topics, including recent developments in fish trade, building resilience along the value chain, Guidelines for Catch Documentation Schemes, Food quality for safety-related market access requirements, trade in fisheries services, Voluntary Guidelines for Small-scale Fisheries, CITES-related activities, monitoring and implementation of Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, and impact of aquaculture supply on trade and consumption. The aim of the cooperation is to discuss relevant issues regarding the aquaculture sector, to which China contributes 62 percent of the world's farmed production. [cid:image002.jpg@01D1995E.5DAED710] Projects * GCP/HAI/030/EC entitled "Improving food security in the North East of Haiti". The project has adopted a Farmer Field Schools (FFS) approach to build up a platform for learning and experience sharing among the selected beneficiaries (mainly small-scale farmers and fishermen). The project has several agriculture production components. The aquaculture component includes three main activities: (1) in site production of red tilapia hybrid (Oreochromis mossambicus x Oreochromis niloticus) fingerlings; (2) growing out red tilapia in floating cages in lakes; and (3) establishing good practices for fish processing and marketing.
