Very interesting newsletter, especially the following study. FAO-USAID report: Opportunities for agri-food chains to become energy-smart<http://www.fao.org/3/a-i5125e.pdf> How can actors in the agrifood industry reduce their dependence on fossil fuels and become more resilient to possible future climate change impacts? This new study, published by FAO and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), outlines options for three agricultural value chains. The report provides detailed data on the energy requirements and possible cleanenergy solutions along the dairy, rice and vegetables value chains, and promotes the design of a development framework that increases productivity and value generation in rural areas. It aims to assist farm businesses, farmer associations, practitioners, training institutions, food processing companies, policy-makers and other stakeholders in the agrifood industry in reducing their dependence on fossil fuels, reducing related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and becoming more resilient to possible future impacts of climate change.
