University College Dublin (Ireland) has a 4 year structured PhD opportunity (funded) to develop methods of estimating species diversity and species turnover (alpha and beta diversity) from biological recording data. This PhD is part of the collaborative project "Biodiversity, resilience and food security: understanding the role of biodiversity in maintaining food production" between University College Dublin, Queen's University Belfast and the National Biodiversity data centres. The PhD will contribute towards understanding the role of biodiversity on the resilience of grassland production against extreme climate events.
