DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Dear all\, In case any of you are interested in
participating in the Webex of this event – note the times are US Easter
n Standard time. Looks like it could be an interesting event.\nPauline\,
Could you circulate to regional and global partners?\nJeff\n\nFrom: Diete
r Fischer [mailto:[log in to unmask]]\nSent: 14 September\, 2016 10:01 PM\nT
o: Thomas\, Laurent (TCDD) <[log in to unmask]>\nSubject: Invitation to September 28 event focusing on smallholde
r supply chains\n\nDear Mr. Thomas\,\n\nWe’d like to invite you to a hal
f-day event on September 28\, at the IFC office in Washington D.C. This n
etworking and learning event focuses on smallholder supply chains. The ag
enda is below.\n\nIf you’d like to attend in person\, please RSVP to Mil
a Pestun ([log in to unmask]). We will also stream t
he event via Webex. We’ll be sending out more information on the speake
rs and Webex login shortly.\n\nBest\,\n\nDieter Fischer\nSenior Operations
Officer\nManufacturing\, Agribusiness and Services\n\n9:00 to 11:00: Ho
w to professionalize smallholder agriculture: A global quality system for
farmer organizations\n\n Food security. Jobs. Demographic shifts. Su
stainability. Global trade.\n\n To meet these challenges and more\, f
arming must change. Farmers and farmer organizations in emerging markets m
ust become more professional and more productive. A well-run farmer organi
zation is more likely to access finance\, inputs\, and services\, which me
ans it can sell more and do more for its members.\n\n The result is g
reater food security and more sustainable livelihoods for farming families
.\n\n It’s clear that farmer organizations must professionalize. Bu
t can professionalism be systematically built and measured? And will more
professional organizations be rewarded with better market access?\n\n
You are invited to a presentation that explains why the answer to those q
uestions is YES.\n\n IFC is a founding member of the Agribusiness Mar
ket Ecosystem Alliance (AMEA)\, a consortium of NGOs and development agenc
ies that has two goals: (1) help farmer organizations achieve defined stan
dards of professionalism\; and (2) facilitate market access for these newl
y professional organizations.\n\n\n11:30 to 13:00 with lunch: Launch of
IFC’s Global Cooperative Curriculum for farmer organizations\n\n Th
e first AMEA initiative is IFC’s Global Cooperative Curriculum (GCC). Th
e GCC links assessment\, training\, and intensive coaching together in a 1
2- to 18-month program designed to help farmer organizations reach the pro
fessionalism criteria defined by SCOPEinsight. The program was developed b
y a team of IFC cooperative specialists and instructional designers. This
launch follows recent successful pilots in Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire.\n
\n The goal of the presentation and Q&A session is to introduce the G
CC and explain how AMEA partners and others can use it.\n\n\n\n\n
