10 Years on: GBEP to explore new areas of
work on biogas and advanced biofuels
10 years on from its launch at the CSD in 2006, this year’s annual meetings took place in Rome from 30 November to 2 December 2016. They were a time to take stock of GBEP’s work and to
pave the way for new activities under the re-confirmed Co-Chairmanship of Italy and Brazil for the biennium 2017-2018.
The GBEP Task Force on Sustainability (TFS) met on 1 December 2016 and re-instated the Environmental, Social and Economic sub-groups, with leadership provided by Germany and UN Environment
(Environmental), FAO and Argentina (Social), and Italy and Japan (Economic). The three sub-groups will mainly work electronically via e-groups and teleconferences to develop the implementation guide for the GBEP Sustainability Indicators (GSIs).
