I have the immense pleasure to announce that the FAO/INFOODS Global Food Composition Database for Fish and Shellfish Version 1.0 (uFiSh1.0) was published today. It was prepared by: Doris Rittenschober, Anders Møller, Barbara Stadlmayr, Sarah Najera Espinosa, & U. Ruth Charrondiere. You can assess it through the INFOODS website http://www.fao.org/infoods/infoods/tables-and-databases/faoinfoods-databases/en/

 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all authors, reviewers, data providers, the members of fatty acid working group and all other contributors for their hard work. A very special thanks goes to Doris Rittenschober who worked on this project since the beginning and was able to overcome all challenges encountered – really great job. Also to Anders Moeller a great thanks who contributed his expertise and guided us in many ways and was mainly responsible for the crustaceans and molluscs data. Also the entire food composition team here at FAO helped, colleagues form fisheries as well as so many others which are all mentioned in the acknowledgement section. Without all this expertise and hard work the database could not have been developed and published today.

 

I hope you find the FAO/INFOODS Global Food Composition Database for Fish and Shellfish useful for your work. It is the first edition and we hope to find additional resources and analytical data to continue publishing new editions covering more species.
