Tillage (animal-drawn ploughing and ripping) was the main plot treatment and residue application was the sub plot treatment with two levels (100% residues removed or retained after harvest). There were 5 fertility amendments. The CA principles of minimum soil disturbance and maintenance of a permanent mulch cover resulted in reduced soil mineral N availability for crop uptake and poor maize yields. Nutrient inputs through mineral fertilisers and manure are key to ensuring production in such infertile, sandy soils which predominate in semi-arid regions of southern Africa. <http://sco.lt/4zFmEL?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8CVvYf?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8UgFsn?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8mqaCv?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/950uX3?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> *Tillage, crop residue, and nutrient management effects on soil organic carbon in rice-based cropping systems: A review <http://sco.lt/7Y8kHx?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> * From www.sciencedirect.com <http://sco.lt/9NBErB?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> - March 5, 12:42 PM <http://sco.lt/7Y8kHx?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> Rajan Ghimire, Sushil Lamichhane, Bharat Sharma Acharya, Prakriti Bista, Upendra Man Sainju. 2017. It was found that closing knowledge gaps on CA did not close YGs and that CA adoption was partial. In the three areas, farmers’ interest in CA- based increasing of yields was limited, as circumstances drove them to embark on extensification rather than a land use intensification pathway. <http://sco.lt/5yD8Ph?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/6kt5En?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/733PYv?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/7LDjt3?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/7dO4DB?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> *Runoff and soil erosion plot-scale studies under natural rainfall: A meta-analysis of the Brazilian experience <http://sco.lt/4jmddp?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> * From www.sciencedirect.com <http://sco.lt/7vYOXJ?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> - March 5, 12:33 PM <http://sco.lt/4jmddp?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> Jamil A.A. They found mean values of observed annual soil loss ranging from 0.1 t ha y− 1 (grassland and pasture in the southern region) to as great as 136.0 t ha y− 1 (tilled fallow plots, without plant cover, in the northeastern region). They conclude that In order to reduce the variability of the observed data, develop models, and support decisions, it is important to increase the monitoring period of the experimental sites. <http://sco.lt/4jmddp?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8Vt3BZ?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8o3NVh?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/96Dhpp?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/4irBU9?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> *Back to the Prairie: carbon-wise practices feed the soil <http://sco.lt/6gYhVJ?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> * From dtnpf-digital.com <http://sco.lt/511VoH?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> - March 5, 1:01 PM <http://sco.lt/6gYhVJ?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> Susan Winsor. 2016. This area has degraded soils and unreliable weather patterns. They looked at conventional tillage with 4 CA treatments. Results showed that reduced tillage combined with maize-cowpea intercropping followed by mustard residue retention had higher system productivity and net benefits, 200 and 230%, respectively. The soil quality index was also highest under this treatment. 35% of the farmers preferred this treatment compared to 14% for the farmer practice. The CONS management was a suite of practices that included addition of cattle manure compost, reduced tillage, diverse crop rotations and use of cover crops that CONV management did not have. Soil microbial biomass was measured in bulk soil and the wheat rhizosphere in the last 2 years. Total soil microbial biomass, and that of its components (fungi and bacteria), was significantly greater under CONS management than under CONV management. They conclude CONS practices will enhance biological processes including nutrient cycling and biological pest control. <http://sco.lt/67Zthp?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8pBm1x?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/97M6M5?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/4jza0P?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/529uKX?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> *The effect of no-till on organic C storage in Chinese soils should not be overemphasized: A meta-analysis <http://sco.lt/8zpzOL?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> * From www.sciencedirect.com <http://sco.lt/5KKEef?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> - March 5, 12:40 PM <http://sco.lt/8zpzOL?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> Zhangliu Du, Denis A. They used meta-analysis of 95 comparisons of CT and NT from 57 sites covering various cropping systems in China. The results revealed that compared to CT, adopting NT led to SOC accumulation in the upper 20 cm layer and SOC depletion in the 30–40 cm layer. Further analysis suggested that the effect of NT on SOC storage was significant with residue retained, double cropping systems, and in the coarse textured soils. We conclude that although NT was an effective agronomy option for soil conservation in China, the potential for mitigation climate change through increased SOC sequestration by NT should not be amplified. <http://sco.lt/8zpzOL?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/5uetIv?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/6CpDd3?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/6UzXxB?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/6n9sHJ?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> *Within cropping season changes in soil physical properties under no-till in Southern Brazil <http://sco.lt/5AXKeP?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> * From www.sciencedirect.com <http://sco.lt/75KCbR?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> - March 5, 12:36 PM <http://sco.lt/5AXKeP?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> Guilherme Anghinoni, Cássio Antonio Tormena, Rattan Lal, Wagner Henrique Moreira, Edner Betioli Júnior, Camila Jorge Bernabé Ferreira. 2017. There were significant differences in all soil physical properties among R and IR zones when measured 15 days after sowing. At 52 and 115 days pore continuity did not differ, but BD, FC, air permeability and total porosity did. Soil resilience was evident even over a short term, improving soil physical quality at IR position. The large contrast in soil physical parameters between R and IR positions was observed right after sowing, gradually decreasing over time and no longer being detectable by the end of the growing season. <http://sco.lt/5AXKeP?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/7ferFh?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/7xpBZp?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8FzVtx?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> <http://sco.lt/8Y9qE5?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> *Conservation Agriculture for Africa: Building Resilient Farming Systems in a Changing Climate <http://sco.lt/53RMOn?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> * From www.cabi.org <http://sco.lt/69rFi5?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> - March 5, 12:29 PM <http://sco.lt/53RMOn?_tmc=aPM1J6Dm5ceUphSJE04-fIiAgVuP7v984YqmS-p6ahs&track=1> Kassam, A. et al. 2016.
