Subject: Minutes team Meeting 22.03.2017

Hi all,

The minutes of our team meeting today (to dos in bold):

1)      Administrative issues

·        Martina is on mandatory service break and will return on 14.04.

·        Clara got a job in Valencia, her contract with FFF is now for 15 days, homebased with the output being the gender assessment

·        Violeta’s recruitment is being processed in Budapest

·        LoA with IIED has been checked and final amendments done; clearance is expected soon

·        Everyone should make sure to use the newest templates and to submit budgets in excel sheets for all LoAs

2)      Updates from the Manager

·        We receive $ 60.000 additionally, assigned for Ruanda event, maybe used partly for/by IIED

·        International Day of Forests (forests and energy) raised some negative press, e.g. by Global Forest Coalition

·        Phase II fundraising: Violeta will prepare fundraising plan; SIDA will decide in April; FMM funds are cleared now; FLEGT money still not received – Jeff and Bob might go to Brussels soon; Further targets: Canada and GER/BMZ (see separate Email on Berlin Charter); Anna confirms that IIED has 2 fundraising trips scheduled for this year;

·        Concern over short time available for fundraising and the need for coherent/joint effort by all partners à this will be discussed during team meeting in 2 weeks (04.04.), Jhony will prepare and chair; Duncan and Chris should be present if possible

3)      Updates from the field

·        Regional meeting in Asia needs to be planned and decided upon soon; one option is Myanmar; Sophie to get feedback from Nepal and Vietnam to ensure soon decision on date and location.

·        Women’s champions: Few countries will be selected for piloting, Jhony suggests Kenya and Myanmar from his countries; Anna will circulate ToRs soon for feedback

·        There is an IUCN vacancy in Bolivia, Pauline will link up and also with Latin-American chapters in general

4)      Updates from Edinburgh and Gland

·        Business incubation (Anna): Draft had been sent by Duncan, feedback by the team required; 02.10.: Final draft of case studies expected; Will be presented e.g. at FLARE conference, Regional Meetings and IUFRO Conference; Field work in selected countries in August àConsider needs assessment of Apex FFPOs? Needs gender and youth lense; Duncan and Anna will be linked up with Allison (consultant for guide of guides) for feedback/support

·        Pauline will circulate AMPB report soon

·        There will be a separate meeting with Anna on REFACOF, AFA etc.

5)      Small but many is big

·        Svea sent around new concept note, please give feedback

·        Decision on meeting dates will wait after IUCN meeting with consultant on Friday as he might be facilitator for the meeting and could do write-up afterwards; No matter the decision, his paper will be an important input for the meeting (might be presented by Duncan alternatively); Is there money to engage the consultant for the meeting? And/or for having an additional consultant (e.g. Eric)?

·        As Svea will be on leave by then, Pauline will take over the coordination work, FFF colleagues (Martina, Zoraya, Tatiana) will help with logistics; We hope most will be paying for their travel themselves

·        Jeff will try to get Illias on board again

We did not decide on a chair for next week’s meeting! Please volunteer, otherwise I will chose someone tomorrow J

Kind regards,

Svea
